We know staying on top of your Nissan Frontier maintenance schedule is what helps keep your vehicle running in top shape in the long run. But how do you know what schedule to follow? You don't have to dive into the glove compartment to leaf through the owner's manual-that's what our team at Watermark Nissan of Marion is here for.

A reliable ride is what gets you around Marion, Herrin, and Carbondale, Illinois, and you'll find that when you service your Frontier, it'll be good for the long haul. Read on for more information.

Starting Point: The 5,000-Mile Mark

Everybody has to start somewhere, and if you're rolling in on new wheels, then the 5,000-mile mark is where it's at! This is when you should change your engine oil and filter.

Of course, this varies from vehicle to vehicle. Some cars go as far as 7,500 miles before their first oil change, but with the Nissan Frontier, it's good practice to change it at 5,000 miles or once every six months.

Likewise, your tires should be rotated so that wear spreads more evenly, especially with front or rear-wheel drive vehicles.

10,000-15,000 Miles

Around the 1-year mark, you may reach 10,000 miles in your Frontier. This is when you'll want to have a more thorough inspection to ensure that your vehicle's components are functioning at peak capacity.

Some of these may include:

  • Transmission fluid
  • Your braking system

Add another 5,000 miles to that, and you very quickly reach 15K. At this point, you'll need another oil change (every 5,000, remember?) as well as an in-cabin filter change.

20,000-30,000 Miles

At 20,000 miles, your inspection will entail another examination of your brakes as well as top-offs for brake fluid. It's also good practice to give the engine a look-over, particularly to see if the exhaust system, axles, and suspension are functioning as they should.

When 30,000 miles comes around, alongside the usual maintenance fixes, your air filter will also need to be replaced.

40,000 Miles Plus

Once you reach this point, you're pretty familiar with the schedule. It's always a good idea to get your oil inspected upon entry, but other additional maintenance you can expect is a drive belt inspection. This is where things change, slightly. Now that you've been driving it for some time, you'll want to have your drive belt inspected every 10,000 miles or so.
